The Promise Ring put out Nothing Feels Good in '97 and Very Emergency in '99. Intentionally or not, they're a perfectly matched pair of albums--smart pop with a guitar edge and lyrics both wistful and quirky.

Maybe Dick Clark and Davey move a car

Their more recent output is good, but it doesn't hit these heights, and I find myself coming back to these discs again and again.
